Pond/Sunset

This is a pond that is just below the shack in my last post. I would love to be a great wildlife/landscape photographer but I have not the patience of Job. I guess if you're really good you can predict where you need to be and when you need to be there. Of course, to get that good you have to pay your dues, which involves spending countless hours in cold water up to your crack waiting for the light to shine just right on that waterfall so it makes a rainbow. Even then its only a mediocre picture unless a flock of flippin doves fly under the rainbow or there's a small child sitting on a rock crying in the foreground. "No thanks," I say. I'll continue relying on my luck and charm to get me through the day thank you very much. Oh, and below is a sunset picture.

Love Shack (bad pun alert!)

This is a little building I pass every time I drive to Wal-Mart, the post office, go to Pikeville or Virginia, visit our buddies with the hot tub, or turn left out of my driveway. I'm not sure what this used to be, but it's beat-up now. I was really just looking for an excuse to use a new tripod. I'm very excited about this whole tripod thing because it makes me slow down and think about what I'm doing. What a new experience.

I Love My India

Hello everyone. I have finally posted pictures from my trip to southern India last year. View them here. It's taken me almost a year to get these up, but better than never I guess. Hope you enjoy them.

The phrase "I Love My India" is the title of a new book by Avinash Veeraraghavan, taken from a Hindi movie. Avinash is the son of one of my host families in India. The book is a look at India from a local, he is from Bangalore. This is an article about the book and Avinash, and you can buy the book at Amazon here.
